Sean Akin, Strategic-Partner
I began my career in 2012, working as a recruiter for a national staffing firm. I started up their clerical recruiting division in my market, trained teammates to do my job, and then took a promotion in clerical staffing sales.
I quickly learned the ropes on the other side of the staffing desk. Then once again, I trained my replacement so that I could launch the company's engineering division in that market.
Soon after, I was recruited by PrideStaff to join their organization as a Franchise Support Rep. In this role, I had the unique opportunity to fly around the country, opening new offices and providing support services to existing ones.
When the opportunity arose to run the Fresno office, I jumped at it. The recruiting, sales and support positions I've held have provided me with a great foundation to thrive as a Strategic-Partner. And having worked for the competition, I've also been exposed to a wide range of management styles. I've adopted best-practices in each environment to become the leader I am today.
The Big Picture:
Globally, the way people staff their businesses and find employment is evolving rapidly. Overseas, more and more employers and job seekers are relying on staffing firms to connect the right people to the right opportunities – at just the right time.
In the U.S., the "try before you buy" approach continues to gain momentum. It gives clients the flexibility to assess a candidate's performance on the job before making a commitment, while ensuring work gets done. On the flip side, temp-to-hire allows job seekers to see what the role, work environment and culture are like before joining a company's team directly.
The Scoop on Staffing:
Staffing is a relationship-driven business. I live my life by two standards – integrity and trust – both of which help me develop long-term relationships with Fresno's best employers and most talented job seekers. My goal isn't to "fill orders"; it's to be a true partner who helps clients and candidates to be more successful.
Secrets to Success:
One word: Respect!
Every employee I work with – from our janitor to our receptionist to our CIO – plays an equally important role in our success. I show how much I respect the contributions of each PrideStaff team member by rolling up my sleeves and taking the time to help anyone who needs it.
The respect I've shown others throughout my career has come back to me tenfold – and it's helped me climb the ladder quickly in the staffing industry.
I'm newly married, so I spend a lot of my free time with my beautiful wife, Kacey.
I also enjoy anything outdoors and high-altitude. Hiking, hanging out in the mountains, and hunting fowl are a few of my hobbies.
