Pridestaff is hiring qualified candidates for a local Akron client that specializes in the medical industry!
Ophthalmic and Optometric Technician/Assistant
To perform all duties as listed below, but are not limited to that of an ophthalmic/optometric assistant.
To assist in maintaining an efficiently run and professional office by working well as a TEAM player with all co-workers and other departments.
To maintain a neat and professional appearance at all times, according to the dress code for technical staff.
TO maintain coverage of the doctors schedules as long as patients are in the office. This includes lunch hour and after Office hours, when needed.
To maintain patient confidentiality at all times according to HIPPA regulations.
Attend all departmental meetings, TEAM meetings and Tech. trainings.
Perform all patient work-ups professionally and accurately. Testing will vary with each patient's needs and reason for visit. (See specific testing explanations)
Perform all special testing as needed. This includes, A-scans, IOL master, BAT, topography, optomap, visual fields, fundus photography, fluorescein angiography, and any other special testing requested by the doctors.
Practice accurate documentation in all patient records.
Maintain stock and cleanliness of all patient exam rooms and pre testing areas.
Maintain cleanliness of technical area.
Maintain all clinical equipment. This includes light bulb changes, calibrations, etc. (Fill in equipment repair list when needed)
Assist with patient care by answering patients medication and treatment questions, refilling prescriptions when appropriate, triage of phone calls and scheduling patients when appropriate.
Handle as many clinical and medical inquiries for patients have before referring them to the physicians.
Assist/cross train as a scribe for all doctors.
Maintain physical and emotional needs of patients as necessary.
Assist/cross train in other departments when time permits.
To study for and complete the Ophthalmic Medical Assisting home study course and test. When completed, take JCAHPO certification test. Continue with study guides for appropriate level and test to next level when ready.
Attend additional seminars, conferences and CE courses as required to maintain certification or licensure.
Maintain CPR certification.
Follow all OSHA rules and regulations. Must complete the required OSHA training and quiz within 10 days from date of hire.
