Tool & Die Maker

$48,000 to $70,000 depending on experience

20 miles south of Fort Worth

Monday through Thursday, 6:00 AM to 4:30 PM, frequent overtime on Friday and Saturday

Work area is air conditioned

 Job Responsibilities:

  • Study blueprints of die and product, die models, templates, and prototype parts to visualize shape, mechanical structure, and operation of die
  • Compute dimensions, plan machining, layout, and assembly operations
  • Measure, mark, and scribe metal stock for machining
  • Set up and operate machine tools such as lathe, milling machines, drill press, and grinder
  • Manufacture parts to specifications and verify conformance of machine parts to specifications
  • Dowel and bolt parts together
  • Fit and assemble cam operated mechanisms for lateral movements of die
  • Smooth flat and contoured surfaces and fit parts together
  • Dismantle die, repair and replace parts as needed
  • Ensure quality of parts before forwarding them to the next operation
  • Work to tolerances as close as 0.0005 inch
  • Furnish your own basic precision measuring tools
  • Comply with safety policies and procedures
  • Follow quality control standards
  • Accurately complete required paperwork

 Experience / Skill Requirements:

  • 3 to 5 years of training with formal tool and die apprenticeship or post-secondary program, equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered
  • 5 years of CNC experience
  • 5 years of experience on conventional metal cutting machinery, tool and cutter grinding experience is a plus
  • Able to distinguish between different metals and match their properties to specific applications, with a heavy emphasis on tool steels and heat treatment
  • Working knowledge of basic metal cutting principles, tooling and thread nomenclature
  • High School diploma or GED
  • Must be able to do basic math including geometry and trigonometry
  • Must be able to read and comprehend simple instructions and able to write simple notes
  • Able and willing to pass a urine drug screen
  • Clean background, Class C misdemeanors will be considered
  • Must have a valid driver’s license and a good driving record
  • Must have reliable transportation
  • Must have consistently good attendance
  • Must have a good attitude and work hard
  • Must get along well with co-workers and enjoy being part of a team
  • Must be able to stand continually during work
  • Must be willing to work overtime when required
  • Must be able to lift 60 pounds
  • Must have steel toed shoes or boots
