Job Description

Position Description: Maintains the physical condition and operations of facilities. Responds to work orders and provides daily maintenance and repair to include electrical, mechanical, plumbing, or carpentry. Own tools and vehicle required.  

Schedule: 7:30 am -4:00 pm

Qualifications: High School Degree/GED; 1+ years of Facilities Management experience in multi-site housing or residential facilities and Driver's License.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:

  • Understanding of electrical issues, preventive maintenance, fire systems, plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance and repair
  • Time management skills with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks
  • Professional communication skills to communicate verbally and in writing
  • Ability to take initiative
  • Customer service skills
  • Ability to use common power tools, hand tools, and maintenance equipment
  • Knowledge of landscaping and painting
  • Knowledge of safety practices related to maintenance activities and corresponding equipment and chemicals

  • Problem solving and decision making skills
  • Organizational skills with an attention to detail
Environmental Working Conditions:This position works in office, residential, and outdoor environments.  Required to work in hot and cold outdoor environments.  May be exposed to dust, odors, and noise.  The working environment may or may not include individual heating and air conditioning controls and may or may not include a window.
Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.  This position may be active and requires standing, walking, bending, lifting, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing.  Must be able to climb stairs and ladders.  Work may be performed outside on facility grounds in heat or cold. Travel to work sites using own transportation methods.  Utilize own tools for work projects, and transport tools to work site.
Duties include but are not limit to:
  • Ensure that building systems are being operated safely, efficiently, and as intended
  • Perform routine preventive maintenance and repairs to building systems and equipment
  • Ensure vacant units are prepared for move-in
  • Complete and document all maintenance and repairs per policy
  • Complete service requests in a timely manner
  • Ensure that all safety standards are maintained
  • Purchase and maintain inventory for cost effective operations
  • Answer mobile phone in off hours and respond to 24-hour emergency calls
  • Complete landscaping and grounds work, as needed
  • Communicate work status updates to Facilities Management and Property
