Job Description

Job Responsibilities

  • Responsible for maintenance, testing, troubleshooting, calibration and repair on a variety of circuits, components, analytical equipment, and laboratory and manufacturing instrumentation
  • Directs and supervisors others, including direct reports and/or consultants or service contractors.
  • Specifies and requests purchase of components
  • Analyzes results and may develop test specifications and electrical schematics
  • Maintains logs and required documentation
  • Maintains spare parts inventory
  • May prepare technical reports with recommendations to technical problems
  • Conduct new employee training
  • May represent the group at client and regulatory inspections
  • Will be required to work with vendor(s) for price quotes and scheduling on-site visits and/or demonstrations.
  • Must oversee/maintain blue mountain ram for instrument and equipment calibrations
  • Must have understanding of 21 CFR part 11 compliance for existing equipment and new equipment.

Required Experience

  • Minimum of 5 years experience in maintenance/repair of analytical instruments.
  • Minimum of 5+ years experience in a GMP environment
  • Minimum of 2 year experience supervising others

Preferred Experience

  • Knowledge of Empower and LACE boxes
  • Able to oversee and review supplier IQ/OQ/PQ of analytical instruments from Agilent for dissolution baths and auto samplers, HPLC, and GC.  Additionally work to confirm part 11 compliance for the  Metrohm TIAMO that will be tied to  Metrohm Karl Fischer units.
  • Support semi and annual PM work on instrumentation
  • A current working knowledge of aster Control software encouraged
  • A working knowledge of Blue Mountain Ram software in encouraged


  • Bachelors Degree (minimum) in Chemistry or related field, or equivalent experience.

Level of Authority

  • Author repair/maintenance records
  • Uses independent scientific judgment in interpretation of data

Environmental/Physical Demands

  • Will handle hazardous materials
  • Will occasionally work in confined spaces
  • Must be able to work while wearing personal protective equipment
  • Occasional light lifting, less than 25 lbs
