On Target FAQ

On Target FAQ
1. On Target sounds like a lot
of work, is it?
For us, there is quite a bit of up front
work, but for you, the process is painless. When setting up
a job profile, we will coordinate all the activities that
need to be completed. We'll take care of documenting the job
profile, interviewing current employees, conducting a job
shadowing analysis, and administering all benchmarking evaluations.
We'll also provide an orientation and feedback to your current
employees, so they will feel comfortable and excited about
this process.
All we ask of you is a small amount of time from supervisors
and current employees to provide us with the data we need.
And once this process is completed, we never have to repeat
it unless your job profile changes.
Best of all, once a job MAP is developed, ordering temporaries
becomes a simple process that can easily be accomplished in
a matter of minutes.
2. What is the value of On Target?
On Target is designed to minimize mistakes
in the temporary staffing process. By developing objective
performance benchmarks, and then evaluating candidates against
those standards, PrideStaff can greatly increase the probability
of providing successful temporary employees.
By providing temporaries who are consistently well-qualified,
we will help you to improve productivity, reduce temporary
employee turnover, reduce training time and expense, and save
time in the ordering process. And we can give you the peace
of mind of knowing that your temporary staffing needs will
be filled correctly and that your work will get done when
you need it done.
3. Does On Target cost more?
No. On Target is available to all our
clients at no additional charge. PrideStaff charges rates
that are competitive with other clerical and professional
staffing firms; however, we are the only firm that offers
On Target.
4. Do you use On Target for
every job order?
On Target was designed for higher volume
temporary staffing needs (i.e., those positions with three
or more people in the same job function). However, we are
currently in the process of developing job profiles for a
variety of positions that will give us standards to be used
with lower volume staffing needs. This will make On Target
practical for any staffing need where temporary employee quality
is paramount.
5. What if I need someone in
a rush?
We can certainly accommodate your need.
On Target was designed to help our talented service coordinators
to be even more effective at their jobs. That said, we recognize
that some staffing situations require immediate response and
cannot wait for a job profile to be created. In these instances,
we'll put our team's skills and experience to work to help
you find a suitable candidate as quickly as possible.
6. Who do you benchmark?
That's up to you. We recommend taking
a cross-section of your employees. We're not looking for just
your top performers. Our goal is to understand your Minimum
Acceptable Performance level, so we want to look at a range
of people that meet your definition of solid performers.
7. What if my employees don't
do well on the tests?
When we benchmark, we find that our
clients' employees do very well on some parts of our tests
and not so well on others, and that's exactly what we're looking
to find. We want to thoroughly understand which skill areas
are most important and what level of proficiency is required.
However, we want your employees to feel comfortable, so we
will work closely with you and your employees to ensure that
everyone will understand what to expect from the tests and
ensure that no one gets distressed by the results.
8. What types of jobs do you
benchmark?
On Target is designed for clerical,
administrative and professional positions. We can develop
an evaluation for virtually any clerical, office or administrative
function as well as a wide variety of professional jobs in
accounting, finance, human resources, insurance and customer
service.
9. Our jobs are very unique,
can you benchmark what's important to us?
We have the ability to use more than
500 different evaluations in our benchmarking process. Our
evaluations include software skills like Word and Excel, functional
skills like typing, medical office procedures, legal staff
skills, and industry specific terminology, and soft skills
like customer service, listening and telephone etiquette.
If required, we can work with you to custom develop tests
that would evaluate the unique aspects of your business.
10. Does On Target really make
a difference?
Our clients say it does. In the past
year, since implementing On Target, we've seen a significant
increase in top ratings for positions filled with the On Target
process. 97% of hiring managers using On Target gave top ratings
on first time fills (as compared to 89% without using On Target).
Our clients claim that the On Target process improves morale,
increases productivity and reduces turnover.
11. Do you have to be a big
company to use On Target?
No. We can adapt On Target for any type
of company. However, how we apply On Target to your business
will depend on the number of people you have in the position
to be profiled.
If you have three or more employees currently working in
the position, we will custom benchmark your current staff.
If we have less than three, we will benchmark candidates against
national standards we have developed for many different types
of clerical, administrative and professional jobs.
In all cases, we will meet with you at your site to develop
the job profile and select the most appropriate method for
creating your benchmark.
12. Who's using On Target?
On Target is currently being used with
companies ranging from start-ups to the Fortune 500. Examples
of our current On Target clients include:
- A national university using On Target to ensure consistency
among call center specialists.
- A healthcare company looking to improve efficiency and
accuracy of medical billers.
- A nation-wide facilities maintenance company looking
to upgrade the quality of its customer service department.
